Editor's Opinion

"I recieved this product yesterday. I tested it out with my 2 month old boy as soon as I opened it. He immediately calmed down once in the pouch. I didn't realize at first that you need to wear the sling high on you. You need to be able to easily kiss your baby's forehead. It's the biggest thing Dr. Sears urges for this product, having learned that from watching one of his YouTube Safety videos. But it doesn't highlight that in the directions. The adjustable strap is only so long, but if you need to get the carrier higher on you (for you more petite peeps) it is perfectly fine to pull more fabric through the rings to get it as comfortable as possible for you and your baby. (Don't adjust strap while baby is in sling to prevent pinching.) He seems to mello out every time I place him in the sling. His neck is still unstable so I do keep one hand over his neck when moving around with it, atleast until he's a little older.

I love the design. Very fashionable and cute. I purchased the solid black color to savor my husband's masculinity for when he uses it, but I really do love the colorful ones with those beautiful patterns. Not to say that the black isn't cute and sleek in it's own right, because it is. The material is soft and the shoulder pad is thick and comfy.

Another thing I love about it is that unlike the other carrier I have(Infantino Front2Back Rider), with this one I can get him out of the sling easily and very quickly. A concern of mine was that I have chronic back problems, but surprisingly with this product my baby seems light and it doesn't agitate my back whatsoever. And the rings do not dig into my shoulders like I have seen on other reviews. Wearing the sling high and correctly should take care of those problems--be sure to read all the instructions before using. (There are demonstration videos on YouTube for how to place your baby for each type of carry. The manual instructions are good, but it's even more helpful to SEE t done.) Overall, I like this product and am glad I bought this one and not another brand or type of sling. I look forward to using it in the coming months."

I am not a sling fan anymore - S. Steenburg - Charleston, SC, United States
I am just not a sling fan. I tried about every type of carrying device for my baby because she was so fussy. I got this because I read Dr. Sears fussy baby book. My baby was hyperalert from a very young age and by 3-4 months, I kid you not, she could get out of the sling, she would pull and rip at it and try to throw herself overboard. It was just not safe. Same thing with the Moby wrap(gift), it worked while she was younger, but not by the time she hit 3-4 months, which make these seem wasteful. Also with the recent stories of children getting positional asphyxia in these from their heads being in too tight of a c-shape, I am not sure they are worth it.

I tried the baby bjorn (gift) also when she was small and she loved it, but by around 4 months she wanted to ride forward, and for some reason she did not like riding forward in the bjorn.

I also tried and ultimately purchased an Ergo, that was the best fit for baby and me. She does ride forward but can easily turn to the side and see, she can also ride on the hip. When she gets bigger I can use it as a backpack and carry her on my back up to 40lbs. I did not buy the infant insert or use the ergo until she was about 4-5 months old. So I can't speak to how well that one works for small infants. I can say she is currently 7 months old and loves her ergo. I know I can't use the sling for her even now, because she will try to "escape" and fall out. She can't get out of the ergo even if something upsets her (tired, fussy, general baby meltdown) and when she does fall asleep her head rests on my chest in an upright position with a nice clear airway (unlike what was happening with some of those slings- although this sling was not specifically cited in the infant sling deaths at the time of this writing)

The sling was well made with nice soft fabrics and had a little storage pouch that was big enough for a few dollars or a pacifier to be tucked into it.

"This is my favorite baby carrier. It's so practical, basically once you have adjusted it to you and your baby you just have to slide baby in or out, and that's it. When I have to go out and run errands in different places, instead of opening the trunk unfolding, the stroller, unbuckle baby from car seat, buckle her up on the stroller.... well, I just put her in and walk - I find it's also a great exercise! And my baby loves to hang on to mommy! It's light weight so you can take it in your purse and if you are breast feeding it's also great! Every mother should have one."

"This sling is perfect! I wish I'd had it with my first child! I was torn between this sling and Hotslings, but after reading reviews and not wanting to deal with picking a sling size, I went with Balaboa. The strap is adjustable to make it as high or low as you want it to be. My son has loved it since he was a week old (22 inches, 8 pounds) and still loves it at 5 weeks. It is very comfortable to walk around in and I use it nearly everyday... to vacuum, do laundry, etc. We live in Japan, which is not stroller friendly, so this really has been a life saver. I've worn it nearly all day to the aquarium, park, grocery store, even to get my eyebrows waxed! Everyone I see raves about how cute and functional it is. Like the other review said, I've never worried about him falling out (and that's with me chasing after my toddler). We have a Baby Bjorn, which I used with my older son, but he never looked that comfortable in it.

If you're having a baby, or know someone who is, this is the perfect purchase. Babies want to be held, but moms need their hands free! Lugging around a car seat or dealing with a big stroller isn't always practical or convenient. The price is a deal, too!"

Huge Let-down - -
I was most excited about this product after reading all of the great reviews. But what a disappoinment! I am about 5'6" and my baby weighs in at a whopping 10lbs at 2wks... the sling is WAY too big for both of us. On the tightest setting it still hangs down below my hip and completely swallows my baby, closing over his face. It is unsafe, unsecure, and a very poor fit.

"Ok, we now have 4 ways to tote our toddler on our bodies & this is my current favorite. I had wanted a sling from the start, but couldn't find one I liked. Other rings slings have this massive "tail" that drove me nuts. The Peanut Shell brand is beautiful, but expensive. Hotslings were too size specific (my husband I would have each needed our own). I went with the Moby & then the Bjorn Active while our son was tiny.
When I started carrying him on my hip, I revisited the sling idea & found this one at a local store. It is perfect! Adjustable, neat & comfy. The rails are padded so they don't cut into his legs. The "tail" is just a strip of fabric, not a whole, giant bed sheet. It has a sort of toggle on the end that tucks neatly into a strip of fabric to keep the tail from hanging down. There are 2 little pockets on the outside for keys or change (not too useful, but once in a while they come in handy). I love the fabric & the other 2 or 3 patterns are also very nice and maybe more gender neutral (for dads who care). We've used it constantly for 5 months & it has held up very well. I keep it in the car.
One caveat about slings in general: if you have a bad back or poor posture, think twice before carrying your baby in a sling. It does not distribute weight well. I use this one to free up my hands when I would ordinarily be carrying him on my hip anyway. If I wear him in it for long periods of time, I definitely feel "outta-whack." And my son is 19 pounds at 1 year (shrimpy).
That said, if I had found this sling first, I might not have bought another carrier."

Worked for my Colic-y baby! - sunflowersNC - Charlotte, NC USA
I am so glad I decided on this sling. I tried 2 others: the INfantino Sling rider (Which only satisfied my newborn for a week) and the HotSling, too stiff and no adjustable straps. I ordered this solely based on the picture and that it's endorsed by Dr. Sears. I got lucky - this sling has been a GOD SEND! IT's my baby's favorite way to sleep. She was very colic-y from the beginning and this was the only way to calm her down and get her to sleep. We would swaddle her and get her in. We'd even lay her down after falling asleep safely in the sling still into her crib. It's been perfect! I'm still using it with her at 7 mos. True, if you have back problems, it's prob not going to be a positive experience for you. Also, baby may not take to the sling right at first, but keep trying it and she'll eventually cozy into it. Take this sling shopping with you, to church, to friends, restaurants - it's perfect for nestling baby so she feels safe. And you can try other positions and styles of wearing it as your baby grows. I rec. getting Dr. Sear's Baby Book as a companion to show different baby-wearing methods that work with this sling.
