Go GaGa Gondola Tote Review

Go GaGa Gondola Tote

I was excited to try this diaper bag, as I thought the strap was clever. Upon using it for various purposes for several months, I'm just not that impressed. Yes, the strap seems to be a good idea. But it's a slippery fabric, and when you put your arm up to grab something, it slips up onto your shoulder, thus negating its effectiveness. The strap when it's bunched up is pretty uncomfortable. I also don't like the way this bag is balanced. It's cut to sit on your side (obviously), but the way it's weighted makes it unstable. I feel like it's always flopping all over the place when I grab it to put it on. And that weight imbalance makes it difficult to just grab it and throw it over your shoulder (without passing it over your head), if you just want to walk a short distance. It becomes tedious in that situation. The last thing I don't like about this bag is the zipper. It's so deep on the sides that unless you have it unzipped ALL the way (difficult to do with a wiggling toddler), it's hard to get your items out unless they're either small or right on top.

I upped the rating a bit, because there are a couple of things I like about this bag. It's a very nice, sturdy material, and the changing pad it comes with is also nice and sturdy. It's a large bag that can hold a lot, and the outer pocket can hold a surprising amount and is great to just throw things in (like tissues, dropped toys, keys, etc.) when you're in a hurry. I also really like the water caddy space on the sides - it can hold a water bottle easily (or other items) and is very deep.

Go GaGa Messenger Bag Made From Recycled Material Review

Go GaGa Messenger Bag Made From Recycled Material

This bag is useful and it's great that it's made from recycled material, but it's just a little too big and bulky. It's also a strange shape that doesn't work as well as I imagined it would. The angled bottle pockets won't work well if there are stiff objects inside the bag. You can pull the bottle out one-handed but don't try to put it back in without adjusting the bag contents. My husband uses it without any complaints. We both have received compliments on it. Overall, it's a good quality bag that will last a while and serves its purposes.

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Sweet Pea Review

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Sweet Pea
Average Reviews:

The hotsling is much simpler than the slings that have the buckle; therefore, it makes it much easier to become accustomed to and travel with.Although I do like it, I don't love it for summer because the material is a little thick; my baby gets too hot in it, and so do I.Also, because the baby's legs have to be scrunched up in it (right now she is only 2 months old), I like to put her in the Baby Bjorn so that her legs can be free. It's a good product as far as slings go, and I would recommend this sling over the others (i have a few slings AND a Baby Bjorn!).

Beco Butterfly II Baby Carrier Review

Beco Butterfly II Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start this off by saying that I have tried just about every carrier out there. Snugli, Hotsling, Hip Hammock, mai-tais and various other slings and carriers. By the time my son was 1 and I still hadn't found one I liked I had almost given up on baby wearing. I'm a larger girl with a big bust and bad back. Nothing was comfortable for me. I borrowed a friends Ergo and for me it was still uncomfortable. I also didn't like that I had to use the waist extender. But as far as carriers go it worked out the best for me. Until I did some online searching. I found the butterfly and read about it. There were so many great features. One of my favorite is that I could take my son off of me and transfer him to my partner without taking him out. I also felt MUCH safer putting him on my back with the Beco instead of the Ergo. But that's just me. The biggest selling point for me was that it came with everything whereas with the Ergo you had to buy the extras.
Now I have a 6 week old and haven't used any carrier but this one. I love it so much!

Product Description:
The Beco Butterfly Baby Carrier combines great ergonomics, excellent weight distribution and stylish design. Every piece is handmade from top quality designer fabric and heavy duty webbing and buckles, and can be used with children from newborns to toddlers, in both front and back carries. The innovative internal sling enables you to securely buckle your baby into the carrier, then handle Baby + Carrier as a single unit. You can put your baby on your back very easily, just like putting on a backpack! The Beco Butterfly's removable infant insert for newborns allows your little baby under 15 pounds to ride higher in the carrier in an ergonomically comfortable position. When your baby outgrows the need for the newborn insert, you simply place her into the main Y shaped internal sling attached to the carrier's shoulder straps, which improves the distribution of the baby's weight and enables parents to pass baby from one wearer to another without taking the baby out of the carrier. The inside panel acts as a safety harness and prevents baby from slipping down or falling out of the carrier. 1) Child can be worn on front or back and easily shifted from one to the other. 2) Tall, tapered carrier body provides lots of upper body support for your baby or toddler, holds baby close to your body for greater comfort. 3) A Sternum (chest) strap is connected to the shoulder straps and slides along their length. 4) Padded waistband is firm and supportive while maintaining a slim profile. 5) High quality designer fabrics are smooth, stylish, and comfortable against the skin. 6) Padded leg holes prevent chafing of little thighs. 7) User waist range fits 25 to 50 inches (63 to127cm). 8) User height range fits from 4 foot 9 to 6 foot 2. (144cm to 188cm).

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Zoie, Size 5 Review

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Zoie, Size 5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have two kids and I love to have one in my Hotsling while the other is in the stroller/shopping cart. It's cozier than keeping my infant in his carseat carrier. It's also lighter to tote him around this way. When he had colic, I would cradle him in my Hotsling and I was able to move around the house and do the things I needed (tend to my toddler) while comforting him.Now that he can sit up on his own, I carry him on my hip in the sling. He can look all around or nap snuggled up to me.It's one of the few baby items I have that I can see myself using all the way through his first year ... and maybe longer. My 2 1/2 year old fits in it great.
I was unable to use my Baby Bjorn because I never felt like I could get my daughter positioned right. When I did get her in there, my shoulders would hurt after 15 minutes.I never have that problem with my Hotsling. My son goes in or out of the sling faster than I can get him in a carseat.I also think he is very happy with it.He can look around from my hip and I'm right there for him.
For those reviews about having a hard time with the sling... make sure you get the right size. There are detailed instructions for measuring yourself to get the right size. There are also videos and step by step instructions for use on the website.
I love my Hotsling.I wish I had gotten one with my first child, but I am SO thankful that I have one now that I have two children. Now I just wish I had one in just about every print because they are cute too!

Kokopax Classic Carrier Review

Kokopax Classic Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Little background: I am 5'2" and 110, my husband is 6'3" and just over 200 lb., and we both like this carrier, which is almost unheard of. Our son is just barely 6 mos. old, 18 lbs., and about 27 in.
PROS: MUCH more comfortable for both child and adult than other carriers (we owned several, and tried them all), as child's weight is more evenly distributed. 5 point harness keeps Houdinis where they should be. Child's arms and hands are free to move around. Good view of the world for little one. Easy in and out-- not a million straps and buckles, as with other carriers. Child can "support" their own weight w/ their feet on the frame of the carrier (watch the video-- you will see the baby "bouncing" with his feet on the carrier frame in one clip). So much more interesting and normal for baby than simply hanging from their crotch (again, as with other carriers). Able to take this many places where stroller is simply not realistic (like cobblestone streets, narrow aisles, or where navigating through crowds is difficult).
CONS: Not for smaller babies (<6 mos.). Child really does need to be at least 25 in. (and weight appropriate) and have excellent head/trunk control. Requires some upper-body strength to get it on as manufacturer suggests (should not be placed on an elevated surface to put on). I am a very athletic female and have no issues, but I question how well the "average" woman could do it without using an elevated surface (for my husband, this is a moot point-- no issues). Wish it was a little bit more adjustable-- there are three "snap" levels for lumbar support, but at the smallest setting, I still wish it would ride a little higher for me (I'm a mere 5'2"). Again, my husband has no issues-- he uses the tallest setting, and he is 6'3". No comfortable head position for child if they fall asleep in the carrier (this is true of all outward-facing carriers, but perhaps someday someone will rectify this?).

All in all, we like this carrier a lot. More expensive than most carriers, but often you get what you pay for. Nice fun prints too, but remember if you want your hubby to help carry baby, you might want a more neutral one (we have the brown "bubbles" and my Marine has yet to complain). Remember that regardless of how great the support is, carrying an extra 20-35 lbs. on your back is going to take a little more out of you, so people w/ extra large children (close to 30 lb. weight limit) shoudln't place their expectations on comfort too high. If you are extremely petite (under 5') or very lacking in upper body strength, this may not be the carrier for you, but it beats all the others we have owned and tried hands down!

Freehand Mei Tai Baby Carrier Review

Freehand Mei Tai Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a mother of 3 and have gone tried many different types of baby carriers, and this is by far my favorite one.To be fair, I did not buy from Amazon, but directly from BabyHawk.Their website is awesome & I was able to design my own.If you don't mind waiting a little longer, its the way to go.

I have used, the ring sling, the Baby Bjorn, the pouch sling, to name a few, but the Mei Tai is by far my favorite. My first child LOVED to be in a carrier, but the ring sling started to really hurt my back once she was a few months old.I couldn't carrier her in it for more than half an hour or so.My second child HATED all carriers - but I hadn't tried the Mei Tai - I bought a pouch sling (Hotsling) which he screamed whenever I put him in.So we tried a Baby Bjorn, which he liked for a week, then screamed. With my third, I decided to wait & try out all those above. The Ring Sling was too bulky to take anywhere (its a padded style). The Baby Bjorn was just plain hard to put on.The pouch sling he outgrew in a few weeks (or maybe we outgrew together - I am 5'10 and the Hotslings are NOT adjustable).

I researched carriers & read many reviews before deciding on BabyHawk Mei Tais.IMO the pros & cons are as follows:

PROS
ADJUSTABLE: Unlike the pouch sling the design of the sling allows for growth of the child & variance in size of the wearer - one size really does fit all
MULTIPOSITIONAL: Unlike the Baby Bjorn - and the pouch sling to an extent - the Mei Tai can be worn many different ways - front, back, different ways to tie. There is a way that will feel best for you.
STYLE:If you decide to design your own - you have hundreds of options to suit your style - This can be a fashion statement as well as a baby carrier
SIZE:This can be folded down to a small carrying pouch (included) that can be tucked into a diaper bag or stroller. Not much larger than a folded Hotsling.
EASE OF USE: The first couple times are tricky - but after 3 times, I can put in a cranky screaming baby & put down a quiet sleeping baby no problem - much easier than the Baby Bjorn IMO.
WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION:I have big babies - my six week old is 14 pounds - this carrier distributes weight better than the other 3 types IMO.
HANDS FREE:Unlike the pouch sling or ring sling, you can free up both hands with this carrier. So you can puch a shopping cart & hold onto a toddler at the same time.Or maybe hold your baby & eat?

CONS:
EXPENSIVE: The Mei Tai is more expensive (relatively) than a ring sling or pouch sling. You can spend extra if you design your own & add pockets & toy rings.I find the expense worth it.
EASE OF USE:I put this in the CON category as well because the first few times are difficult - practice at home in front of a mirror. Also because the ties are so long, I would not want to put this on standing in dirt, or someplace with dirty floors. The straps will drag - there is no way around this.
REPOSITIONING:You will need to check your baby & positioning of the straps every so often. As our weight shifts, I usually adjust mine about 30 minutes afterputting it on.Its like your favorite pair of jeans - they loosen up some minutes after putting them on right out of the wash.

SUMMARY:I found this Mei Tai to be very versatile, simple to use, & stylish. It distributes weight nicely & is small enough to pack around.I would highly reccommend this to anyone with a baby that likes to be held a lot.

UPDATE:I have owned this carrier for over a month and I use it EVERYDAY.My infant HATES his infant carrier unless its in the car and we are moving - so I put him in the Mei Tai for all trips out of the house - the mall, the grocery store, my older child's school.I have mastered the art of putting it on in the parking lot - I just stand in front of the van door, and carefully drape the long ties in the van before securing my baby. This leaves my hands free for my toddler/shoppin cart/latte.I also wear this at home at least once a day.My son is 2 months old and 15 pounds - I can handle about 2 hours at a time - even my husband is starting to wear this now after seeing how much our baby enjoys being in it.I get compliments on this all the time, and all my expecting friends want to borrow it.We love it!

Boba Organic Baby Carrier 2G Review

Boba Organic Baby Carrier 2G
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Boba is a soft-structured carrier (think Ergo) designed to be used for children ages 1 to 4 (15 - 45 lbs.) for front and back carries, and my two youngest are now 16 months and 3.5.As an Ergo owner my first thoughts were - how does the Boba differ from an Ergo?Well, to be honest there are quite a few points of differentiation, most good, some not-so-good.There are also some similarities and challenges that seem to present themselves with any structured carrier.

So, first off, the Boba is an organic cotton carrier, made in Boulder, Colarado by mountaineering professionals - very neat! The first things I noticed were the nicely contoured padded shoulder straps, the handy `hide-em' elastics to roll up the excess webbing from the shoulder straps and waist strap (very nice touch!), and the heavy duty safety-buckle.

Loading both of my children in the front facing position was very simple, but I did need some help fastening the chest-strap across my back (I have limited mobility in my right arm), so I need some help there.I played with the foot-straps some before realizing that my baby's legs are just too short for them to work at the moment, but they are very adjustable with a neat sliding feature that let's you move them around the bottom of the carrier.Adjusting for circumference is tricker, as they velcro up inside of the padded waist area, which is securely fastened when you have a child in the carrier and are trying to adjust the straps. The front carry with Sarah is blissful, it's the snuggliest, worry-free front carry ever! She's in the perfect position to kiss, and the extra fabric on the sides and top really gives it a cocoon-like feel. She slept for hours in the Boba the first time she rode in it.

Now, the shoulder straps were hard for me to get snug enough, so I called in my husband, but this isn't unique to the Boba, I always have a hard time with this design of tightening fixture on soft-structure carriers.Once adjusted though, between the shoulder and chest straps you can get a good custom-fit for your child. It does take a few minutes to adjust the carrier back and forth for different children.

Now, my 3.5 year old IS tall enough to get use out of the foot-straps!Designed to be used with shoes, the straps function almost as a stirrup, and are designed to lift the leg to a healthy, 90 degree angle from hip to thigh and thigh to calf.I think it's a pretty neat idea, and you can tell that the posture is definitely better with the strap as opposed to without. If she gets excited and tries to 'stand' in the stirrups, the velcro lets loose and needs to be done up again, and she did say they were a bit `itchy' - some of the velcro must have brushed her leg (something to note if your youngster has sensory-integration issues).Again the front carry is very supportive and incredibly comfy, I could carry her for hours like this! She likes it too.

Now, for the back carry, I actually got Sarah in without help on my first try by following the instructions! The extra fabric on the panel really makes a difference here. With other soft-structured carriers I often felt like my baby was leaning away from me because I couldn't feel her upper body against my back. With the Boba that problem is no longer there! With some careful adjustments I can get my little girl hugged up nice and comfy. I REALLY like this...sure helps when I'm doing dishes!

Rose also gets nice and tight up against me as you can see. Now, with her being heavier I did notice that the unpadded webbing that makes up the front portion of the Boba (where you fasten the safety buckle) carries more weight and did dig into my abdomen some. That's likely due to my squishy mommy belly, but it wasn't entirely comfortable. Some other carriers feature a flat band of fabric that goes underneath this section of webbing to distribute the weight without so much digging, but the Boba doesn't. Thankfully, I don't use a carrier with her often, as I'm the only carrier wearer in the family, so I usually take Sarah. If Rosie tuckers out her Dad uses his arms.

The Boba also doesn't have a sleeping baby head flap, but in truth, I've rarely been able to fasten those by myself with a baby in the carrier, and often it woke mine up.With the extra fabric providing upper-back support, Sarah just tucked herself in closer when she fell asleep in the front carry, so I haven't missed it yet.

With both the back and front carries high, snug, and secure, the Boba is a great carrier for moms who want to wear their babies through the winter with a baby-wearing coat.Once you get your adjustments made you're ready to go, there won't be any budging.

Parents shopping for a first soft-structured baby carrier should STRONGLY consider the Boba due to the extra fabric in the panel ALONE.The added feeling of security is so sweet, snuggly, and above all reassuring!

Baby K'Tan Baby Carrier Review

Baby K'Tan Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

I really like it :)I mostly only use it for shopping trips, but wanted it to be easy enough to use just to calm my daughter down while I was busy around the house. If I'd planned on wearing her all the time I probably would've gone for the Moby wrap or something, but this is perfect for my needs.I'm 5'4" (almost) and 120 lbs, and the XS is just barely small enough.I don't think I would recommend it for anyone smaller.I do find the size difference between 'normal' and 'freshly washed' somewhat annoying, but I can make them both work, and it only takes an hour or two of wear to stretch it out again, so it's not a big deal (I wish the size would stay right in between, actually, that would be perfect for me).I have nursed her in it, but it's pretty awkward, and I still needed an arm under her most of the time so she stayed where she belonged. But it was better than nothing.

Moby Wrap Moby D 100% Silk Baby Carrier Review

Moby Wrap Moby D 100% Silk Baby Carrier

I have both the moby and the jade moby d.First, the jade silk is a beautiful versatile pattern. It seems that it would match with nearly any solid color. And it is nice as a new mommy who feels covered in spit-up and can't find matching socks for herself to have something that feels really stylish. The downside to the moby d is that it is harder to use than the plain moby. The moby d is not as long, and I can tell you that this post partum belly of mine needs all the length I can get.It is actually designed to not do that final wraparound around your waist. In addition, the silk panel doesn't stretch at all.The end result of these two changes is that it is more difficult to figure out how to tie properly. You have to tie it a bit looser so that there is enough fabric to get around your baby.If you leave too little, because there is no stretch to the silk, it will be too tight for your little one.Too loose and you are afraid that baby might fall out.As time is passing I'm getting better at it, but it is taking weeks. With the regular Moby, this was a non-issue.The reason I bought this was because I was hoping that the silk panel would make it cooler for my little one because she gets too hot in the moby, particularly the newborn hold. She ends up spending all her time in cradle hold, which makes me nervous because the head support is more precarious and I end up supporting her head with my arm.At any rate, the silk panel on the moby d does not make her appreciably cooler. All in all, I would probably not buy the moby d again as I find the moby to be stylish enough.

I do also have an ergo and a baby bjorn.I would say that for a true newborn (I've been using a carrier since she was 5 days old and she is now 6 weeks) the baby bjorn is the best.It has good head support, it is designed so that you can take out a sleeping baby without disrupting their sleep, so for baby it is the best. But, I do find myself using the moby quite a bit because if you put it on in the morning (it is as comfy and stylish as a shirt))And you can take her in and out of the moby at a moments notice, throughout the day. This is particularly nice when you are going somewhere outside the house. The Bjorn is a bit more of a contraption. You wouldn't and pretty much couldn't leave it on once baby is out of it.I would say, to look into the comfort bjorn as the original, which I have, really is hard on your back because of the lack of lumbar support. As for the Ergo, my little one hates that infant insert. It is too hot and confining. But, the Ergo, is the only one of the 3 that I could figure out how to nurse in.Also, out of the 3 carriers it is most comfortable on your back.I think once my little one no longer needs the infant insert, the ergo will likely replace the bjorn.

Scootababy Baby Carrier Review

I purchased the San Francisco style Scootababy carrier.I was frustrated with my Beco carrier. My daughter just didn't do well in it as I had hoped she would.I was scared to make another huge investment, but with my daughter nursing all the time and us leaving for vacation in a few days, I needed to do something. My daughter was just five months and I had an old Platex hip carrier around from years ago.She liked the position although the Playtex was not super comfortable for me.I decided to find something close in style and hopefully more comfortable for myself (small frame) 5'3 and my husband (large frame) 6'2.When I came across reviews here I was skeptical. However, on a whim I made the purchase. It is the best investment I have made for our baby.We just went to Disneyland for 7 days.I wore her almost the entire time.It was comfortable and the easiest nursing carrier I have ever used.I did need a break here and there from the product and or baby, but I literally was comfortable most of the time.My daughter loves it and I love it.My husband loves it too!I have never left a review of a baby product but I know how important and expensive these investments are. This one is sooo worth it!

Ergo Baby Carrier - Camel Review

Ergo Baby Carrier - Camel

I am a babywearer, mostly for the convenience of having my baby on my person instead of lugging a stroller around, but the bonding time is a great benefit!I suffered with the Bjorn all through my first child's infancy, but found the back strain progressed to intolerable by the time she 12-15 lbs.I discovered the ergo during my second child's infancy and used it with the insert. It's certainly been the most comfortable carrier for me and my DD. Liked it too that my husb could quickly adjust it to fit himself as well.Yet I found it bulky both to wear under a coat and when just carrying it around (esp traveling). I ended up using the Hotsling when DD was old enough to sit up on my hip (early- like 3months); even got my husb his own.Sling folds up easily into diaper bag; can work under a coat; quick on/off; doesn't emphasize my "mommy-pooch" like the ergo's waist strap does! Now DD is 1yo and I'm back to the ergo for my back's sake.I'm revisiting all the old feelings as well...bulky to carry, hard to wear UNDER a coat, hate the muffin-top the strap creates around my hips and belly.Am finding it difficult to quickly adjust from front/back to side-carry as well.Ah, the sacrifices...

Hanamuguri Japanese Baby Carrier Carry your baby 3 ways, Front Carry, Tummy to Tummy and Back Carry Review

Hanamuguri Japanese Baby Carrier Carry your baby 3 ways, Front Carry, Tummy to Tummy and Back Carry

I have used a lot of carriers and this one is definitely a new favorite. I love that this carrier is light, can fold up the size of a diaper, and be
in my diaper bag whenever I need it. It is the easiest carrier to use as it just slips over your head with no straps or buckles. The best part I like
is that the straps are wide enough to distribute the weight (my baby is currently 14 lbs) so that I have no pain in my back or neck when I use it like
I do with my Baby Bjorn. My daughter can face both in and out like the Bjorn. My daughter is very happy in it and I have worn it up to 2 hours
without any backaches! While I also use an Ergo, it is bulky and difficult to pack when I travel - this carrier is permanently in my diaper bag now
since it take hardly any room and isn't heavy. It has been a lifesaver when I am trying to run into a store and don't carry a lot with me, I grab it
out of the diaper bag and put her in it. I have the white special edition pattern and get compliments every time I wear it on the design. I
definitely will recommend this carrier and will be giving one to every new parent as their shower gift from here on out. Great product, wish I knew
about it when I had my first child!

Product Description:
We have tried them all, the Moby - too hard when dealing with a screaming baby, the Bjorn - is a crotch dangler, not good for spine development, the Ergo - bulky and expensive. Then we came across the perfect carrier. It is compact, folds into a small square when not in used (easy storage in the diaper bag), it's comfortable, and flexible (carry your baby on your back, facing you - tummy to tummy and forward facing). One size fits all!Good for when baby's about 3 or 4 months old and has good head control to about 30 pounds. The straps are wide and the weight of the baby is distributed across your back. Available only in the Special Edition print for now.
