Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Sweet Pea Review

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Sweet Pea
Average Reviews:

The hotsling is much simpler than the slings that have the buckle; therefore, it makes it much easier to become accustomed to and travel with.Although I do like it, I don't love it for summer because the material is a little thick; my baby gets too hot in it, and so do I.Also, because the baby's legs have to be scrunched up in it (right now she is only 2 months old), I like to put her in the Baby Bjorn so that her legs can be free. It's a good product as far as slings go, and I would recommend this sling over the others (i have a few slings AND a Baby Bjorn!).

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Zoie, Size 5 Review

Hotslings Designer Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Zoie, Size 5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have two kids and I love to have one in my Hotsling while the other is in the stroller/shopping cart. It's cozier than keeping my infant in his carseat carrier. It's also lighter to tote him around this way. When he had colic, I would cradle him in my Hotsling and I was able to move around the house and do the things I needed (tend to my toddler) while comforting him.Now that he can sit up on his own, I carry him on my hip in the sling. He can look all around or nap snuggled up to me.It's one of the few baby items I have that I can see myself using all the way through his first year ... and maybe longer. My 2 1/2 year old fits in it great.
I was unable to use my Baby Bjorn because I never felt like I could get my daughter positioned right. When I did get her in there, my shoulders would hurt after 15 minutes.I never have that problem with my Hotsling. My son goes in or out of the sling faster than I can get him in a carseat.I also think he is very happy with it.He can look around from my hip and I'm right there for him.
For those reviews about having a hard time with the sling... make sure you get the right size. There are detailed instructions for measuring yourself to get the right size. There are also videos and step by step instructions for use on the website.
I love my Hotsling.I wish I had gotten one with my first child, but I am SO thankful that I have one now that I have two children. Now I just wish I had one in just about every print because they are cute too!

Freehand Mei Tai Baby Carrier Review

Freehand Mei Tai Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a mother of 3 and have gone tried many different types of baby carriers, and this is by far my favorite one.To be fair, I did not buy from Amazon, but directly from BabyHawk.Their website is awesome & I was able to design my own.If you don't mind waiting a little longer, its the way to go.

I have used, the ring sling, the Baby Bjorn, the pouch sling, to name a few, but the Mei Tai is by far my favorite. My first child LOVED to be in a carrier, but the ring sling started to really hurt my back once she was a few months old.I couldn't carrier her in it for more than half an hour or so.My second child HATED all carriers - but I hadn't tried the Mei Tai - I bought a pouch sling (Hotsling) which he screamed whenever I put him in.So we tried a Baby Bjorn, which he liked for a week, then screamed. With my third, I decided to wait & try out all those above. The Ring Sling was too bulky to take anywhere (its a padded style). The Baby Bjorn was just plain hard to put on.The pouch sling he outgrew in a few weeks (or maybe we outgrew together - I am 5'10 and the Hotslings are NOT adjustable).

I researched carriers & read many reviews before deciding on BabyHawk Mei Tais.IMO the pros & cons are as follows:

PROS
ADJUSTABLE: Unlike the pouch sling the design of the sling allows for growth of the child & variance in size of the wearer - one size really does fit all
MULTIPOSITIONAL: Unlike the Baby Bjorn - and the pouch sling to an extent - the Mei Tai can be worn many different ways - front, back, different ways to tie. There is a way that will feel best for you.
STYLE:If you decide to design your own - you have hundreds of options to suit your style - This can be a fashion statement as well as a baby carrier
SIZE:This can be folded down to a small carrying pouch (included) that can be tucked into a diaper bag or stroller. Not much larger than a folded Hotsling.
EASE OF USE: The first couple times are tricky - but after 3 times, I can put in a cranky screaming baby & put down a quiet sleeping baby no problem - much easier than the Baby Bjorn IMO.
WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION:I have big babies - my six week old is 14 pounds - this carrier distributes weight better than the other 3 types IMO.
HANDS FREE:Unlike the pouch sling or ring sling, you can free up both hands with this carrier. So you can puch a shopping cart & hold onto a toddler at the same time.Or maybe hold your baby & eat?

CONS:
EXPENSIVE: The Mei Tai is more expensive (relatively) than a ring sling or pouch sling. You can spend extra if you design your own & add pockets & toy rings.I find the expense worth it.
EASE OF USE:I put this in the CON category as well because the first few times are difficult - practice at home in front of a mirror. Also because the ties are so long, I would not want to put this on standing in dirt, or someplace with dirty floors. The straps will drag - there is no way around this.
REPOSITIONING:You will need to check your baby & positioning of the straps every so often. As our weight shifts, I usually adjust mine about 30 minutes afterputting it on.Its like your favorite pair of jeans - they loosen up some minutes after putting them on right out of the wash.

SUMMARY:I found this Mei Tai to be very versatile, simple to use, & stylish. It distributes weight nicely & is small enough to pack around.I would highly reccommend this to anyone with a baby that likes to be held a lot.

UPDATE:I have owned this carrier for over a month and I use it EVERYDAY.My infant HATES his infant carrier unless its in the car and we are moving - so I put him in the Mei Tai for all trips out of the house - the mall, the grocery store, my older child's school.I have mastered the art of putting it on in the parking lot - I just stand in front of the van door, and carefully drape the long ties in the van before securing my baby. This leaves my hands free for my toddler/shoppin cart/latte.I also wear this at home at least once a day.My son is 2 months old and 15 pounds - I can handle about 2 hours at a time - even my husband is starting to wear this now after seeing how much our baby enjoys being in it.I get compliments on this all the time, and all my expecting friends want to borrow it.We love it!

Baby K'Tan Baby Carrier Review

I really like it :)I mostly only use it for shopping trips, but wanted it to be easy enough to use just to calm my daughter down while I was busy around the house. If I'd planned on wearing her all the time I probably would've gone for the Moby wrap or something, but this is perfect for my needs.I'm 5'4" (almost) and 120 lbs, and the XS is just barely small enough.I don't think I would recommend it for anyone smaller.I do find the size difference between 'normal' and 'freshly washed' somewhat annoying, but I can make them both work, and it only takes an hour or two of wear to stretch it out again, so it's not a big deal (I wish the size would stay right in between, actually, that would be perfect for me).I have nursed her in it, but it's pretty awkward, and I still needed an arm under her most of the time so she stayed where she belonged. But it was better than nothing.

Moby Wrap Moby D 100% Silk Baby Carrier Review

Moby Wrap Moby D 100% Silk Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have both the moby and the jade moby d.First, the jade silk is a beautiful versatile pattern. It seems that it would match with nearly any solid color. And it is nice as a new mommy who feels covered in spit-up and can't find matching socks for herself to have something that feels really stylish. The downside to the moby d is that it is harder to use than the plain moby. The moby d is not as long, and I can tell you that this post partum belly of mine needs all the length I can get.It is actually designed to not do that final wraparound around your waist. In addition, the silk panel doesn't stretch at all.The end result of these two changes is that it is more difficult to figure out how to tie properly. You have to tie it a bit looser so that there is enough fabric to get around your baby.If you leave too little, because there is no stretch to the silk, it will be too tight for your little one.Too loose and you are afraid that baby might fall out.As time is passing I'm getting better at it, but it is taking weeks. With the regular Moby, this was a non-issue.The reason I bought this was because I was hoping that the silk panel would make it cooler for my little one because she gets too hot in the moby, particularly the newborn hold. She ends up spending all her time in cradle hold, which makes me nervous because the head support is more precarious and I end up supporting her head with my arm.At any rate, the silk panel on the moby d does not make her appreciably cooler. All in all, I would probably not buy the moby d again as I find the moby to be stylish enough.

I do also have an ergo and a baby bjorn.I would say that for a true newborn (I've been using a carrier since she was 5 days old and she is now 6 weeks) the baby bjorn is the best.It has good head support, it is designed so that you can take out a sleeping baby without disrupting their sleep, so for baby it is the best. But, I do find myself using the moby quite a bit because if you put it on in the morning (it is as comfy and stylish as a shirt))And you can take her in and out of the moby at a moments notice, throughout the day. This is particularly nice when you are going somewhere outside the house. The Bjorn is a bit more of a contraption. You wouldn't and pretty much couldn't leave it on once baby is out of it.I would say, to look into the comfort bjorn as the original, which I have, really is hard on your back because of the lack of lumbar support. As for the Ergo, my little one hates that infant insert. It is too hot and confining. But, the Ergo, is the only one of the 3 that I could figure out how to nurse in.Also, out of the 3 carriers it is most comfortable on your back.I think once my little one no longer needs the infant insert, the ergo will likely replace the bjorn.

Fisher-Price Easy-on Infant Carrier - Black Review

Fisher-Price Easy-on Infant Carrier - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing with this carrier for about a month now, and I have to say - I'm impressed.I have to confess that my mother is acquainted with the guy who designed this product for Fisher Price, so I had heard about this item and was eager to try it.I have a four month old baby boy.We were given a Baby Bjorn as a shower gift, and I used that for comparison.I also use a New Native baby sling.

First off - it's much easier to put the baby in than the Baby Bjorn. The entire piece that the baby sits in snaps off and is easy to put the baby in - you lay him on it like a diaper and zip up the sides. It's designed so the parent puts their harness on first. You then pick up the baby and snap his harness on to yours.Soooo easy, and much less hassle for the baby. The connection is very secure - it's a five-point system. It takes a bit of practice to master getting the baby out - I prefer to sit down to unhook the harness. It is also just as easy to unzip it and pop the baby out over the top.

The baby can be worn forward or backward.Requires no major adjustment to accomplish this.Good for up to 25 lbs, and a cinch to adjust for length.

The adult harness seems to distribute the baby's weight more evenly across my hips than other carriers and slings.I have more stamina with this carrier than my sling, which my baby loves but I find quite cumbersome.

One feature I love - it has a toy ring attached so you link a toy on it - fantastic so your baby's favorite item doesn't end up in the dirt.

The fabric is ultra-soft and cushiony, like thick foam covered with microfiber. This is especially true around the baby's legs. In fact this item is ideal for people whose babies have chubby thighs - the leg openings are nice and big, with no pinching - yet the baby is still secure.I find that our Baby Bjorn is a bit tight around his legs.Despite the padding, this product has great airflow for the baby and adult, too - we live in Florida.Drool and spit-up seem to just wipe right off the fabric. The shoulder straps are nicely padded. One thing I would mention - the fabric on the inside of the shoulder pads is like a cooling mesh, and can be a bit tough when worn on bare skin (when wearing a tank top etc).I solved this problem by wrapping a bit of soft fabric around the straps where they sat against my neck.It would be nice it this came with something to solve this problem, like adult sized versions of the strap covers on a car seat. But wearing it with a T-shirt should not be a problem.

I have to say - I have comandeered this product for my exclusive use - my hubby wears the Baby Bjorn now!

Hotslings Reversible Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Ingrid Review

Hotslings Reversible Pouch Style Baby Carrier, Ingrid
Average Reviews:

The sling is comfortable to wear. It doesn't put too much pressure on your shoulder and allows normal back alignment when carrying a child on your hip.It is also very easy to transport since it rolls up so small. With most other slings, you can't bring them everywhere with you "just in case"because they are too bulky. The only downside is it is not adjustable. My Mom can't wear it when she babysits since she would be a different size. Other than that, they are wonderful products - well put together, soft and sturdy fabric, comfortable for mom and baby, and easy to use (they come with an instructional DVD). I love the reversible feature too!

I bought this for my newborn daughter who is tiny and petite.I put it on and I couldn't get even her legs in it.Its not that well made nor is it soft.I ordered the correct size (I'm 5'3" and a size 4) but I just think its a poor design.Look closely at the sellers return policy too.I had to jump through too many hoops to get it returned and shipping was double that on their own external website.

Pikkolo Soft Structured Baby Carrier Review

Pikkolo Soft Structured Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I absolutely LOVE this pack!I've had it for just over a month now, and it gets used every day.Sometimes multiple times during the day.Learning to use it can be a bit complicated, but it's not difficult once you get it down.My 3 month old hates being in his stroller or car seat, so I carry this pack with me everywhere. It's his main mode of transportation when he's not in the car.Originally I was given a Jeep front carrier, but that hurt my back and shoulders.I've had two back surgeries and deal with a lot of back pain already. This carrier has the hip belt, which is a must for me.It's much better on your back and shoulders.Plus, I like the fact there is nothing between me and him.He is securely held in waist belt, and then pressed up against me.Since my son always falls asleep in his carrier (front carry, facing in), it makes it easy to remove the pack after we get home.I can even just lay down on the sofa, unbuckle and slide out everything, and then he can nap right there with me!

He isn't quite big enough for the back carry yet, but I have practiced putting the carrier on that way.It is a little more complicated than some, again, but not hard to figure out.I love the fact that this can be used in so many ways- front facing in, front facing out, hip carry, and back carry. And since it holds a baby up to 40 pounds, there won't be any need for me to look into a new carrier over the years. It is well worth the money.

Product Description:
The new Pikkolo by CatBird Baby represents the new height of carrier sophistication and comfort. You can completely customize it to meet you and your baby's ever-changing needs over time, and use it in a myriad of positions. * Excellent for babies from newborn up to 45 pounds (age 4 to 5). * All Pikkolo carriers include a detachable sleep hood, chest belt and instruction manual and are 100% cotton, exclusive of trim. * The Pikkolo has a cinching mechanism on either side of the carrier body to narrow the carrier. You can then comfortably wear your baby in front facing out. The baby is held in a healthy semi-seated position which does not place as much pressure on the crotch and spine of the baby as a Baby Bjorn does.* The ability to cinch the carrier body also makes it good for wearing small babies. A narrower cinched carrier body means that a small baby will not have to spread his legs very wide while riding.* Brushed twill cotton fabric is feather-soft, feels wonderful against the skin.* Snap hooks on sleeping hood attach to D-rings on the shoulder straps for ease of use and better adjustment. * Tested to fit wearers between 4'10" and 6'2". * All buckles are dual-adjustable and adjust both ways, for optimal fit and ease of adjustment.* Shoulder straps are padded with deluxe memory foam. It is very thin, but incredibly cushy and shock-absorbent. As the foam becomes warmed by your body heat, it shapes itself to your shoulders for a glove-like fit.* Recommended care: wash on gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. Dry on low until just damp, hang to finish drying in well ventilated area. Spot clean when needed

Hotslings Everyday Baby Sling Carrier - Print Stretch - Quinn Stripe - 1 Review

Hotslings Everyday Baby Sling Carrier - Print Stretch - Quinn Stripe - 1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What would I do without my Hotsling? My 9 week old baby has loved the closeness of being in the sling from the very beginning. When she fusses, this is the only sure way to get her calm and sleeping. With her cuddled up close to me in the sling, I can get work done around the house, go shopping or take a walk.My baby isn't comfortable in the Baby Bjorn yet, so the sling is an absolute lifesaver.

There are a couple drawbacks of this sling:
1. It is not comfortable to wear for long periods of time. After an hour or so, my back is starting to hurt.
2.It is not adjustable, so my husband can't use it, and it was a little tight in the winter when we were wearing big coats and wrapping the baby in blankets.I recommend ordering a size larger than you think you need - I am 5'2"/120 lbs and the size 3 is just right.

Next time, I might try an adjustable sling so that my husband and I can both use it.

Hotslings Baby Carrier Review

Hotslings Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

My baby boy constantly wanted to be held up until about 3 months of age.I tried using a Moby sling; this worked great at home but was a pain to take off and put on when we were out.

I also has a baby Bjorn but my little boy wasn't comfortable in that and would cry when we put him in there. He also had trouble sleeping in the Baby Bjorn.

Finally I did some research on baby wearing and came across the Hotsling. This is a great product. When my son was little I wore him on my front and he could either sleep in it or sit up in it.The Hotsling takes 2 seconds to put on and is very easy to get your baby in and out of.This sling also rolls up very small and I always care one in my purse now.It is also very reasonably priced for a sling.

As my boy gets older (now 9 months) this sling is still great because I could sit him on my hip in it.It provides enough support that my hands are free but allows him some movement.I used it while riding the bus; my son can sit down on my lap or stand up and bounce on my lap while in the sling and I can hold onto my purse and the railing.

I have two of these now. This is my second one.I needed a smaller size after losing the pre-pregnancy weight. The pattern of this one is very tasteful, goes with lots of cloths, and can be either dressy or casual.

I just can't rave enough about this sling.

Buyer beware!I was totally happy when I first bought this product because it was more comfortable than others I tried. However, when the baby arrived and we started using it, I noticed that my baby's head came really close to the prongs that are designed to adjust the height of the shoulder harness. As my baby got older and started to be able to control neck and head, the same prongs actually scratched his head in a number of places - coming dangerously close to his eye.I returned the product and purchased a Baby Bjorn, which has a much better design on this part of the carrier but is not as good on lumbar support.

Didymos Baby Carrier Stripes Review

Every new mom should have a baby wrap in her arsenal. Heck, I'd say to go so far as to skip the stroller (and crib, but that's not related) and just buy a nice woven baby wrap like a Didymos. Baby can be worn on front, back, hip until 2 years of age or so.

Many moms use it for discrete public breastfeeding too.

Infantino Ecosash Baby Carrier, Bloomin Vines, 8-35 Pounds Review

Infantino Ecosash Baby Carrier, Bloomin Vines, 8-35 Pounds
Average Reviews:

First of all, I should say that I have a very, very low opinion of Infantino because of their "bag sling" the slingrider, which they left on the market for years after moms in the babywearing community warned them repeatedly that it (as well as all bag slings) was dangerous. In fact, they never recalled it voluntarily, the CPSC had to issue a recall.

That said, I actually liked some things about this carrier, although I don't recommend it overall. It's a mei tai ("may tie"), which is a very common and popular kind of baby carrier.I've owned a few of them, as well as ring slings, pouch slings, structured soft carriers (like the Ergo), and wraps of all kinds.Mei tais are my favorite for extended wearing, when the baby is not in and out of the carrier often, because they are difficult to get into.

This carrier in particular has some pros and cons:

Pros:
- very supportive of a heavier, larger baby.My baby is almost at the max weight limit (35 lbs.) and we enjoyed it.
- nice, neutral color
- detachable hood - very helpful!
- the PRICE!it's super cheap
- booklet that comes with it is somewhat informative

Cons:
- the method of tying is uncomfortable.See below.
- the detachable/reversible panel is annoying. So much bulk and fuss for such an unimportant thing (to me) just got in the way.
- there are "instruction" panels in a stiff satin fabric ALL OVER this thing. There are panels identifying which is the top, which is the waist, how to wear your baby, the weight limits, etc.It makes the carrier uncomfortable if the panels touch your skin or your baby's, and it's totally unnecessary, in my opinion.
- very large and bulky for a small baby
- no pocket!I really appreciate the pocket in all my baby carriers that have them.

The shoulder straps are only long enough to tie around the body of the carrier, as seen in the picture.I am pretty petite in the ribcage and waist, so even with a big baby, I was able to tie it properly (see below) but not in a bow, only in a very unsafe double knot.A petite woman with a small baby MIGHT be able to tie it properly, but that's clearly not how it's meant to be tied.

The instructions have you cross the straps over your shoulders and then bring them around under your arms and tie them there on the baby's back (if you are carrying baby on the front, facing in).I find this method of tying uncomfortable for me and the baby.

I've almost always seen mei tais tied around the back, with the straps going under baby's legs for extra support. That is, if you're wearing your baby on the front, you cross the straps over your back, bring them around under your arms and cross them over the front panel of the mei tai (where the picture above would have you tie them, instead you cross them or twist them), then tuck the straps under baby's legs and tie them on the small of your back where the waist straps are tied.

All in all, I would invest more money in a better mei tai, or find one used for a comparable price with better features. The annoying labels and the length of the straps really make it unusable for me.Maybe it be a good starter mei tai to learn, but I think YouTube videos and thebabywearer.com, combined with a quality WAHM-made carrier would be a much better and safer way to learn.Infantino is behind the curve on making baby carriers, and I would avoid buying from them in the future.

note: I received this carrier for free with the Amazon Vine program.

Maya Wrap Lightly Padded Sling in Undyed Ivory Review

Don't be disappointed the first time you try out your Maya wrap when your baby starts screaming and your back hurts. It takes a few tries to get it right, but once you do, it is a wonderful way to carry your baby. It is the only way I can get housework done when I'm home alone. I still haven't figured out how to keep the baby from getting all sweaty when she's in it, but I still love to use it.

Sleepy Wrap Baby Carrier Review

Sleepy Wrap Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received the Sleepy Wrap as a baby shower gift, and it has proven itself to be a fantastic product. My son is currently 4 months old, and he is a frequent eater (breastfeeds every 1-2 hours) who takes very few daytime naps.He also wants to be held constantly and cries if laid down or left alone too long. The Sleepy Wrap is the only way I can get him to nap longer than 30 minutes during the day!He will often sleep for 2-3 hours in the wrap, waking for a snack and then back off to sleep.I'm a full-time student taking classes online, and I can study and surf the internet with baby wrapped against me!It's the only way I can get things done during the day.If you are a fan of Attachment Parenting, this product is perfect.

I also use the Wrap when going out and about.I simply put the wrap on at home, then transfer him into the wrap from the car seat and carry him with me in stores, at the mall, etc.He either looks around happily or sleeps peacefully.A much better alternative than carrying a carseat, lugging along a stroller, or finding a shopping cart to place the carseat into. The Wrap is extremely comfortable when standing or walking, and I have no problems with back or neck pain while carrying my son, who is currently 15 lbs.

My son was developing a flat spot on his head, and one of the ways I helped treat this was by keeping him in the Wrap. There is no external pressure on his head, so it's much better than laying him in a swing, bouncer or crib.

I can even breastfeed my son in the Wrap. The website says no repositioning is required, but I find that I do have to reposition my son, from side to side and sometimes further down my chest, in order to feed him.It is not a completely discreet way to feed, so I use my Jelly Bean nursing cover over it.

If you have a fussy or needy baby, I highly recommend getting this wrap.We also have a Baby Bjorn, which my husband often wears, and he prefers the Sleepy Wrap for both his and baby's comfort.

The only con of the Sleepy Wrap is that it takes practice to put it on just right, but after about a dozen times it becomes second nature. Also, as I mentioned above, I do have to reposition him to nurse, which often leaves the Wrap stretched and I have to re-wrap it in order to get the snug fit I desire.
