Chicco You & Me Deluxe Infant Carrier Review

Buyer beware!I was totally happy when I first bought this product because it was more comfortable than others I tried. However, when the baby arrived and we started using it, I noticed that my baby's head came really close to the prongs that are designed to adjust the height of the shoulder harness. As my baby got older and started to be able to control neck and head, the same prongs actually scratched his head in a number of places - coming dangerously close to his eye.I returned the product and purchased a Baby Bjorn, which has a much better design on this part of the carrier but is not as good on lumbar support.

My three year old loves this puzzle. The pieces are large, thick and colorful. It comes in a great box that has a rope carrying handle, so storage is not a problem and the pieces won't get lost easily. It's a great puzzle that helps with the recognition of animals and with fine motor skills.

Kelty Wallaby Infant Carrier Review

This is an excellent carrier in every way shape and form. The fabrics used are those high quality fabs that you only find in high end adventure gear.
The online pics don't do it justice, you don't see this quality of fabrics in the retail store sold carriers. This carrier is easy to adjust to any body type, including larger 2X mommies. It only has one side buckle that you need to snap when you put it on, two for baby. You don't need to readjust it every time you wear it.I think that it is much nicer but similar to the maclaren carrier that I used with my last baby.

Boba Classic Baby Carrier Review

Boba Classic Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned and used a lot of baby carriers.A LOT.Here's the list:

Woven wrap (Storchenwiege)
Stretchy wrap (Moby)
Mei Tai (Kozy Karrier)
Ring sling (Kangaroo Korner)
Fleece Pouch (Kangaroo Korner)
Soft Structured Carrier (Baby Bjorn and Ergo)

While I found a useful niche for all of these carriers, my "desert island" baby carrier was the Ergo.If I could only have one, the Ergo would be it.That being said, baby-wearing a matter of personal choice, and each of the carriers listed above has its fanatics.I can only speak to my experiences and preferences.

*Now let's talk about the Boba itself in more detail.
The first thing to note is that it's not for babies without head control so don't put this on your baby shower registry and expect to use it with your newborn. The literature that comes with the Boba says that it is for toddlers 15lbs and up. Honestly, I'm not sure why it specifies "toddlers."For one thing, not many toddlers weigh as little as 15lbs.My two babies hit the 15lb mark between 3-6 months, which seems like the right age for starting to use this carrier, as they are starting to be too heavy to wear comfortably in other, less supportive carriers, and in addition, they have good head control.Plus, I'm sure that a couple of the babies shown in the carrier in the pamphlet that comes with the Boba are in the 6-9 month range. So why say "toddlers"?I'll chalk that up to one of life's little mysteries.

*So how does the Boba relate to other types of baby carriers?
As noted above, you won't be using this for an infant without head control. If you want a carrier for a newborn, you can use any of the other carriers I listed at the to of this review besides the Boba and Ergo.So let's say your baby has head control and you'd like to compare it to the others.A stretchy wrap is probably out of the running, because guess what: they're stretchy! As baby gets heavier and heavier, they stretch more and more. The stretchy wrap is great for the wee ones, but around that 15lb mark, you start wanting another carrier. You can use a woven wrap FOREVER.You can carry adults in them if need be.Some people love 'em.I found them to be a bit of a hassle. They are pretty long, and if you're tying it outside, it's going to get on the ground. This creates obvious problems if the ground is wet and/or grimy.I gave those the good ole college try, but ended up not really liking them.A pouch, ring sling, or baby bjorn could also be used with your 15lb+ kid, but all of these carriers spread the weight of the baby over your upper back/shoulders.The heavier baby gets, the less comfortable this is.A mei tai is remarkably similar to the Boba and Ergo.I liked my mei tai.It has the versatility to use a "high shoulder carry" which is fun for little ones, if you want to wear them on your back and have them see over your shoulder. But the straps on the one I had weren't padded, and I ended up preferring the Ergo.Which brings us nicely to the comparison of the Boba to the Ergo.

*Boba vs Ergo
Okay, so they're basically the same. The possible carries are the same. The waist straps and shoulder straps appear to be the same dimensions with the same padding. What I will discuss now is the nitty gritty little differences. The piece of fabric that holds baby is more padded in the Ergo.On the Boba, this piece of fabric is a bit taller, about 2".The sleeping hood (you will probably use this very infrequently, especially as your baby gets older) gets stuffed into a little pocket in the Ergo. For the Boba, it wraps up into a roll. The Ergo has a zipper pocket on the back which is big enough to hold an extra diaper and some baby wipes as well as your keys and money or credit cards (it's approximately 8"w x 6"h x 2"d). The Boba does not have this pocket. The Ergo also has a "belt" that is stitched into the waist in a few intervals. If you don't want to use this, it's not noticeable. But!If you do want to use it, you can get something called the "Ergo Front Pouch" which will velcro over one of the belt sections. This expands your extra stuff carrying capacity significantly.I had this pouch and loved it.These belt loops are absent from the Boba, so this would not be an option. In other words, with the Ergo, you can get away without carrying a diaper bag. With the Boba, you're going to need to carry one, and carrying a diaper bag with a baby strapped to you in this carrier will not be particularly comfortable.Along these lines, the Ergo has been around for a while now, and they've got a lot of accessories designed to attach to it in different ways.It even markets itself as being able to carry a newborn (with a special attachment), but to be honest, I wouldn't.It's not designed for that.Get a pouch for your newborn. The "big" difference between the Boba and the Ergo are the "foot straps."These seem completely useless to me.It's a good thing they make them detachable. If your baby's butt is positioned correctly in the carrier, he or she will already be in the "flexed abducted (froglike)" position with or without these foot straps. The only thing I can see your child doing with these foot straps is using them to get OUT of the froglike position by using them as leverage to try to stand up while being carried!Human beings have been carrying babies in their arms or in carriers for millennia without "foot straps."

*Conclusion
As I mentioned above, of all the baby carriers I owned, if I could only pick one baby carrier to have, it would be the Ergo.In fact, my kids are 4 and 5 now, and while all the other carriers have been sold off or passed along, the only one I still have is my Ergo.I hardly ever use it, but I know that I could if I wanted to (let's say for a long hike) and it would also be the most comfortable option. The Boba, being essentially the same as the Ergo when it comes down to function and use, is a good carrier. It is comfortable, and you can use it for as long as you wish to carry your child.I've seen kids that appear to be 8 years old or older in Ergos.Personally, I prefer the Ergo to the Boba. What it comes down to is that I like the extra storage capacity of the Ergo.Besides the things I mentioned above, the main difference between the Boba and Ergo are the color choices of the carriers.Perhaps you really like the colors that the Boba is offered in, and that decides it for you.If so, as I said, it's a good carrier, and I think you'll be happy with it.Make baby's other parent carry the diaper bag.One more thing: if fashion is your main concern, you might also like to look at the fabric choices for the Beco Baby Carrier, which is another that is basically the same as the Ergo.

Product Description:
Boba is a Soft Structured baby carrier (SSC) that is intended for toddlers 15 pounds and up. Boba has a few extra inches of height to keep your center of gravity closer to your body and support your little one's back. The innovative thing about the Boba carrier is that there are foot straps attached to the waist belt for the child's feet to sit in enabling a healthy sitting position for the child. The footstraps not only give little tired legs a rest, but support the legs in a flexed abducted (froglike) position which naturally tilts the pelvis, fills out the hip sockets, and aligns the spine

Go GaGa Slide Tote Review

Go GaGa Slide Tote
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my first child, hence my first diaper bag. However, I read tons of bag reviews and decided on this one for a few reasons.

PROS
1) It's neutral & hubby likes it.
2) It is big but east to tote around.
3) Has several compartments inside, pockets & nifty side holes on the outside to put a bottle in or bottled water for myself!
4) Strap is soft & widens out wrapping around you like a sling (you can see in some pics on the manufacturer's website).
5) Easy to clean.

CONS
1) I wish it had more compartments as I'm a huge organization freak.
2) I guess when toting tons of baby stuff around you can't realistically ask for a smaller bag but I do wish it was a bit deeper instead of wide.

Overall I like this bag and my sister has some Eddie Bauer bag and she's jealous of my bag! She says hers is too bulky & unattractive!

Flyebaby Fly Baby Airplane Seat Child Comfort System - As Seen in Catalogs Grey Design Review

Flyebaby Fly Baby Airplane Seat Child Comfort System - As Seen in Catalogs Grey Design
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this for a trip across the country with my 8-month old, and it has since proved extremely useful in all kinds of instances.

Airplane use:
My only real complaint about this product is that there is no maximum height given online, it simply indicated there is a line on the tag. So you have no way of knowing if your child is too tall until you actually order it and have the FlyeBaby and your baby in front of you. This isn't a big issue however, because there is only a height limit for use on a plane, not for its many other uses.
My daughter is in the 97th percentile for height at 30 inches tall, and her head came up a good 2.5 inches past the line. I would only really recommend this to lay a baby in on a plane for 6 months and under. However this was still useful on the plane for us. What I did was install it as described in the directions, then I sat cross-legged and sat my daughter upright on my lap facing me. Basically the FlyeBaby served as a little extra support and reassurance that my daughter wasn't going to fall backwards off my lap. It also gave her an even surface to sit on. I did not lay her back on it, as her head would have been pretty much touching the tray table, and that is a big safety issue. Last thing you need is a little bit of turbulence and baby hitting their head.

Use on a chair:
This product proved so extremely helpful on our trip. We didn't have any of my daughter's usual 'gadgets' with us (exersaucer, bumbo seat, walker, high chair etc etc), so this was invaluable to give us a place to secure her. It rolls up super small so I was able to toss it in the diaper bag and quickly install it on chairs at the hotel, in restaurants etc and give her both a place to eat and a place to play. The straps are extremely versatile and this can easily be installed on any chair I've found thus far. This product has replaced the need to bring any extra gear along when visiting friends' houses. We used to always bring her Bumbo or her swing, but now we can just bring this and she can sit right at the table with us.

Overall:
This product is extremely easy to install and remove. I'm talking 1 minute the first time you ever use it, and 10-20 seconds once you're accustomed to it. I am able to install it even with a squirmy baby on one hip. The harness that secures the baby is safe without being overly restricting, and adjusts to a wide range of sizes (perfect for my TALL baby). The material is durable and is not showing any signs of wear even with how much my baby moves around on it, pulls the straps etc. The price is a little over kill to me considering how simple a design it is, but there is nothing quite like this on the market so they could really charge a million bucks for it if they wanted to. And if you think about it, this can easily replace the need for a high chair altogether, so you could save money ultimately.

I highly recommend this product.

PRIMO EuroBath Review

PRIMO EuroBath

We didn't realize just how much our daughter loved the water before we had this tub.It makes bathtime so much fun! We especially love the freedom that this tub offers. The unique molding cradles the baby safely, while allowing both of your hands free to bathe.I had tried other tubs which were so much more difficult to manage. One arm was always tied up with supporting the baby- very tiring as she sqirmed vigorously. Also, I am amazed at the ingenious design. No matter how our daughter splashes, she stays firmly, safely reclined. The deeper section allows her the freedom to kick and truly enjoy the water. At first, I had teased my husband for picking out the largest and most expensive tub.He thought that it looked like a little baby spa.And I thought where are we going to store it?But this is only a minor drawback. The advantages far outweigh any difficulty of size.Actually, we will be able to use the tub longer since our daughter won't outgrow it for quite some time.We think that it makes a great, indepensible gift for any parent.A definite must for any Water Baby!

I used baby bath tubs designed to fit in the kitchen sink with my 3 kids and was surprised to find them not readily available in stores anymore when my oldest had twins. The First Years Sure Comfort Newborn to Toddler Tub Review

The First Years Sure Comfort Newborn to Toddler Tub
Average Reviews:

For newborns- the tub is great using the mesh net.But they're not infants for long.I think I got about 4 months out of it.

For infants (about 4 mos and up), it's pretty good for the most part.My complaint is this:my 7 mo old who is quite chunky keeps sliding down in it.Her [...] won't stay in the grooved part where they're supposed to keep it.She twists and turns and it gets slippery and she starts to slide down.Consequently, I have to keep one hand holding her crotch area to prevent her from slipping under the water. This doesn't make for easy washing w/ only one hand left to use.For that reason, I don't think it's the best.

EDITED:
I've owned this tub for 3 1/2 years.Used it with my first son and then with my daughter. It wasn't until about 4-5 mos after daughter's birth that I realized that I could sit my child straight up on the "toddler" side and then I don't have the slipping problem!Ugh.So much for my fancy college and graduate degrees!

Every new mom should have a baby wrap in her arsenal. Heck, I'd say to go so far as to skip the stroller (and crib, but that's not related) and just buy a nice woven baby wrap like a Didymos. Baby can be worn on front, back, hip until 2 years of age or so.

Many moms use it for discrete public breastfeeding too.

HugaMonkey Crush Organic Baby Sling Review

HugaMonkey Crush Organic Baby Sling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
HugaMonkies are sooooo wonderful and easy to use! They only cost (...) and come right in your mailbox with no shipping cost! The organic material is so stretchy, my baby falls right to sleep when I put her into it because it's just like being back in the womb! I don't know what I would do with out this being a mother of 4 very active children. I use it so frequently that I have decided to order a second one just so I am never without one again. Customer service was also excellent and I was able to talk personally via e-mail with Carrie, the co-founder of Hugamonkey, who helped me determine that I had ordered a size too big.

One word of advice though would be to order a smaller size than you think you need with the organic sling due to the stretchiness of the material, especially if you are a short mommy, but if you do wind up with a size problem, all returns and exchanges are free within the first 30 days through the HugaMonkey website!

These slings are also nothing like the ones you see being sold at Wal-mart that act more like a purse than a sling. I had one of those purse like carriers and my baby really could not breath inside of it. We returned it immediately! These slings are sooomuch better and safer and once your baby gets bigger, you can use it to let her sit in on your hip rather than cradled in front.

Soooo many different uses, really simple design, and very cheap price!

Infantino Balance Baby Carrier, Spindles, 8-35 Pounds Review

Infantino Balance Baby Carrier, Spindles, 8-35 Pounds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is part of a round of reviews of baby carriers my wife wrote, including her takes on the BABYBJ?RN Baby Carrier Original - City Black (4 stars), the Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining (5 stars), the Infantino Ecosash Baby Carrier, Bloomin Vines, 8-35 Pounds (3 stars), and the Boba Classic Baby Carrier, Glacier (4 stars). Here's her general intro:

"I'm 5'5" and around 130 lbs.Husband is 6' and around 170 lbs.Our children seem to grow quickly, both over 15 lbs by 3 months of age, so a good carrier is vital to the health of our backs! There are many features to each carrier that I will try to touch on, and most of them have both pros and cons associated, so I might say one feature is a benefit, but I may also mention its drawbacks, or vice versa. We all have differently tempered and built babes and toddlers, differently shaped bodies, and different needs, so please take these reviews for what they're worth: my humble opinions.

And here's her take on the Balance:

"Infantino really put some thought into this soft structured carrier, but just didn't get it quite right. It offers some different and new features that I haven't seen from Ergo or Boba, but overlooked some obvious ones too. The price is nice though!

PROS:
* As the other reviews suggest, it is a great value for the money.
* It is well-built with soft material.
* Infantino really tried to think of everything:
- It comes with a plastic bib type attachment to save your clothes from spit-ups (though there are no directions for it and it is not advertised).
- Its straps connect to the belt itself, instead of the body of the carrier (as on the Ergo and Boba), so it has an extra buckle from the straps to the body - I believe this design is so that it can accommodate the 8-pounders.
- All of the straps have elastic at the end for consolidating the extra length. It feels very sturdy on due to the comfortable and sizable waist pad.
- The padded strap runs a nice long length down the back (in front carry position), which makes the carrier very comfortable for mom.
- There is a small pocket in front for carrying phone, keys, wallet.
* It's $50 less than its competitors!!Yay for cheaper baby-wearing!

CONS:
* There is no hood/flap for sleeping baby or weather protection, which is really the biggest disappointment in my opinion.I was very surprised Infantino left that out.
* There are a lot of buckles (two more than the Ergo or Boba), which makes it harder to get on alone (but we moms can get used to anything).
* It is way too small for my 34-lb, 3'3" son.
* It holds the babe pretty close to the body, which some babies only like when sleepy.
* The straps that come out of the side of the body of the carrier are held on with elastic bands, which in time will lose their elasticity.
* The nylon straps themselves are of a cheaper quality than other carriers in this review making them stiffer, stick out more, and harder to tighten with one hand.
* While there is a pocket, it is just a sewed on extra piece of fabric, forcing whatever you put into it to stick into the back of the child.

OTHER:
* I have tried this on a 12 pound infant, an 18 pound infant and 35 pound toddler. It works best with the larger sized infant.
* This carrier was made in China, designed in California.

Best thing EVER!!

I honestly, without a doubt, could not live without it.

The sling has allowed me to have my hands free when I work from home, when I am in a restaurant with friends, or when my baby is screaming for a bottle and I'm in the middle of shopping at the grocery store.

He loves it, and so do I!It's even helped him learn how to hold his own bottle faster, by him grabbing it while it's being suspended.

Worth every single penny!

Infantino Ecosash Baby Carrier, Bloomin Vines, 8-35 Pounds Review

First of all, I should say that I have a very, very low opinion of Infantino because of their "bag sling" the slingrider, which they left on the market for years after moms in the babywearing community warned them repeatedly that it (as well as all bag slings) was dangerous. In fact, they never recalled it voluntarily, the CPSC had to issue a recall.

That said, I actually liked some things about this carrier, although I don't recommend it overall. It's a mei tai ("may tie"), which is a very common and popular kind of baby carrier.I've owned a few of them, as well as ring slings, pouch slings, structured soft carriers (like the Ergo), and wraps of all kinds.Mei tais are my favorite for extended wearing, when the baby is not in and out of the carrier often, because they are difficult to get into.

This carrier in particular has some pros and cons:

Pros:
- very supportive of a heavier, larger baby.My baby is almost at the max weight limit (35 lbs.) and we enjoyed it.
- nice, neutral color
- detachable hood - very helpful!
- the PRICE!it's super cheap
- booklet that comes with it is somewhat informative

Cons:
- the method of tying is uncomfortable.See below.
- the detachable/reversible panel is annoying. So much bulk and fuss for such an unimportant thing (to me) just got in the way.
- there are "instruction" panels in a stiff satin fabric ALL OVER this thing. There are panels identifying which is the top, which is the waist, how to wear your baby, the weight limits, etc.It makes the carrier uncomfortable if the panels touch your skin or your baby's, and it's totally unnecessary, in my opinion.
- very large and bulky for a small baby
- no pocket!I really appreciate the pocket in all my baby carriers that have them.

The shoulder straps are only long enough to tie around the body of the carrier, as seen in the picture.I am pretty petite in the ribcage and waist, so even with a big baby, I was able to tie it properly (see below) but not in a bow, only in a very unsafe double knot.A petite woman with a small baby MIGHT be able to tie it properly, but that's clearly not how it's meant to be tied.

The instructions have you cross the straps over your shoulders and then bring them around under your arms and tie them there on the baby's back (if you are carrying baby on the front, facing in).I find this method of tying uncomfortable for me and the baby.

I've almost always seen mei tais tied around the back, with the straps going under baby's legs for extra support. That is, if you're wearing your baby on the front, you cross the straps over your back, bring them around under your arms and cross them over the front panel of the mei tai (where the picture above would have you tie them, instead you cross them or twist them), then tuck the straps under baby's legs and tie them on the small of your back where the waist straps are tied.

All in all, I would invest more money in a better mei tai, or find one used for a comparable price with better features. The annoying labels and the length of the straps really make it unusable for me.Maybe it be a good starter mei tai to learn, but I think YouTube videos and thebabywearer.com, combined with a quality WAHM-made carrier would be a much better and safer way to learn.Infantino is behind the curve on making baby carriers, and I would avoid buying from them in the future.

note: I received this carrier for free with the Amazon Vine program.
