(More customer reviews)As a first time mother and a compulsive experimenter of all "cool" and functional baby products, I have to admit that I am now on my forth infant/ toddler carrier.
I have been using the Lille baby carrier for a couple of months now and I have to admit that I love it.It has united the components that I liked from the other carriers and even added some upgrades.
Some features that work best for me are:
-The shoulder straps are narrow, allowing me put on a jacket over the carrier without the bulk.As a petit woman (5'3), the shoulder straps sit on my body, rather than slipping to the side.Once this carrier is on, it feels comfortable and never moves out of place.
- Her weight sits my hips, allowing me to takehour + long hikes with a 24 lb baby with ease.I have hiked with her on the front (front and back facing) and on my back.The different positions have been great for when my daughter gets fussy.As soon as we change up the position she relaxes.I have even had her on my side, allowing me to "carry" her without the weight on my arms.
- Lightweight but very durable. This is an easy carrier to use in the hot weather, and it is less bulky for packing.It fits under the stroller, in the diaper bag and even in a purse.

Overall, I am very satisfied and know that with the next child, I can stick with one carrier.

(More customer reviews)I was attracted to this carrier by all the rave reviews on Amazon.I like to hike, and live in a city where strollers are an inconvenience, so I thought I'd give this a try.I already have the original model, but this sounded so much better according to other reviewers.After using it for three weeks, my opinion is that this carrier is a slight improvement over the original when it comes to back support, but it's not a real carrier for truly active pursuits, and not worth the extra 90 bucks (or more) to buy it if you already have the original.

Problem 1

Although the lumbar support is a good idea in theory, I find that in order to get it to work, I have to tighten the attached straps to such an extent that my internal organs get squashed.I'm 5'9", 160 lbs, and I don't have a huge gut, but the lumbar just isn't tight enough against my back to provide support unless everything else in front is compressed to an uncomfortable degree, making it hard even to breathe sometimes.

Problem 2

An additional problem that I have found is that my child tends to sit considerably lower than in the original.He's 5 months old, and over 26 inches long, but unless I set the seat at the highest point (for children between 21-23.5 inches), he simply sits too low on my chest, and he still easily (and painfully) puts his little heels into my crotch on a far too-frequent basis.

Problem 3

The little flap at the front of the carrier, which can be folded down when the child is facing forward, constantly pops back up from the folded position to bop my kid in the face.There is no way to snap it or velcro it down, and the tensioner straps designed to aid in holding the child closer to your chest are insufficient to keep it lying flat once folded.

Problem 4

The shoulder straps are insufficiently padded, and as far as I can tell, have the same amount of padding as the original version.My kid is only 18 lbs, and after an hour or so, my shoulders sometimes get sore.I only wonder what hauling around a 25-pounder would be like.

Problem 5

The build quality on this carrier seems inferior to the original.On my second use, the red bracket that receives the red insert of the outer carrier partially tore free of the stitching, requiring me to take out dental floss and needle to stitch it back up.

Problem 6

Even when properly strapped in, I find that my son still bounces around and his back is too far from my chest for this carrier to be considered suitable for anything more "active" than a brisk walk.I have used it once to port him along for a mild hike, and felt that he simply wasn't sufficiently supported.I don't find this carrier's snugging system to be better in any way than the original.

Conclusion

Although this carrier is marginally easier on your back than the original, it is not adequate for more than extended brisk walks.If you don't have either carrier, it makes sense to get this one if you're particularly worried about your back or will be carrying a heavier child.If you're simply planning to carry your child around town for a few hours, the cheaper original model is sufficient.I am still waiting for a baby product company to offer a front-carry model for smaller children that incorporates backpack-style padded and contoured shoulder pads and a padded hip/lumbar belt capable of transferring weight from shoulders to hips.

(More customer reviews)My husband and I started out with the regular Bjorn, which hurt our backs after about 30 minutes. Then we tried the Bjorn Active, which made a huge improvement in terms of comfort, but we were unable to wear it in warm California weather because it was so big and bulky. Finally Bjorn figured it out - combine the Air and the Active -and you have the Synergy. I just wish it wasn't so ridiculously expensive ($150 for a mesh carrier mass produced in Latvia, c'mon!), I wish it came in other colors (navy, red, olive, like the Actives), and I wish Bjorn would finally develop waist support so the baby's weight wasn't carried so much on the parent's shoulders and back. But until then, this is a great carrier for newborns to 6 months old, especially if your young baby (like mine) resists slings and froggy-style carries in mei tais.

(More customer reviews)Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby.

The Bjorn is definitely the best looking and easiest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it's easy to get smaller infants into it.

My big complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than 20 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It's like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!

The "Active" version has wider straps which provide additional support for a small improvement over the "Original," but it still puts all the weight on your shoulders, pulling them forward.

If you only plan to use this when grocery shopping and think you'll give it up when they're 6 months old, this might be for you. If you think you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed.

p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6', 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier.

I have to admit I bought this over some other brands because it is beautiful - the embroidery is stunning and the fabric is all organic and very soft to the touch -- cuddly on the inside for baby and soft on the outside for carrier. It is very comfortable too (my baby is now 21 lbs and I can wear it just fine for a few hours) because of the very wide band that goes across your shoulder and back. The BEST part is that my baby fell asleep five minutes after I started walking around with her in it! MIRACLE! I like to put the baby in the sling first (lying on my bed) and then stick my head and arm through it. Perfect positioning every time. I am 5'9" and got the Medium - fits perfectly.

To be fair, one-shouldered slings are not as comfortable for long-term wear so I wear the Ergo on long walks and errands -- however this is perfect for around the house, quick errands, cooking, etc. I love having both.

I like this sling because I can put my baby fast in and out, he can nurse easier then in a wrap (no adjustment needed) and also he has more room. Lately he didn't like being wrapped in a front of me, because he likes to look around already. Sling gives him more room. And his head is still supported. About the negative review - I think a little patience is needed to find a right position for both. My baby used to be carried, by if someone wasn't it may simply need a time to adjust. For sure its worth a try for any mom. Oh, by the way, works good for Daddy too:)

Not wanting to spend this much money on a "carrier" of all things, I researched and considered carefully before purchasing this.All reviews and reports were accurate...This is definately worth the extra dollars.

The ease of use is remarkable. I can get baby in and out all by myself. From the day after Luca and I arrived home from the hospital, we were out for our daily walks. I sing in our church choir every Sunday and Luca is in his Bjorn close to me and we have never missed a Mass! It is always in the diaper bag when we shop because he ultimately ends up in his carrier. Even at age 13 months I use this daily! Now he sits forward in it and charms all he sees! My older boys take Karate 5 days a week, so Luca is in the carrier facing forward and watching his brothers.My other mom friends are struggling with their toddlers and mine is content in his BJORN!A few of them even went out and purchased it after seeing how easy it is to use.Now we have our own section where we stand and let our babies talk and interact with eachother.My little guy is so content in his that I can even sit down using mine!

The BABY BJORN has become a regular part of my wardrobe!Before I get in the car, I put on my BJORN.I have two strollers in the back of the van but I never use them!This carrier is where he is most content!

Shopping, trips to the vet, doctors, karate, weekly Mass, recently a trip to the funeral home for a close relative, football games and sporting events, pumpkin patch and corn mazes, parades, summer carnivals festivals and picnics, I even ran stand for our church's picnic last summer with my baby in his BJORN...and oh... the list just goes on and on.

I cannot praise this enough for the convenience it has added to my family's life.There is NO staying home using the new baby as an excuse when your baby is #5!This carrier makes it so much easier!Easy in, easy out!When Luca falls asleep in his car seat he goes in this facing me.When he wakes up, he faces out.I can unfasten this and turn him aropund and re-fasten him without putting him down or passiong him off to someone else...that is the amazing feature of this wonderful product!

Seems intimidating at fira=st but believe me, you catch on fast!I cannot tell you how many of these I have sold in stores I just happened to be in shopping!Exasperated parents would just approach me asking me where I got my carrier.Several times I actually watched parents take this from the box on the shelves, put baby in, and pay for it on the way out!

No backaches for me.I am about 5'7" and weigh about 115lbs.Luca is about 23 lbs.I have no complaints and on karate nights I am wearing him for about 90 minutes!

Unfortunately I have never figured out how to nurse baby when in this. I do recall reading that you could but I have found it impossible, at least for me.

You put your arms through the straps and the front of the carrier is open, you then take the front piece and snap it on (very easy) You can then place your baby on you and hold him/her with one arm and pick up the front of the carrier and bring it up over baby sliding the built in post-like fasteners into their respective color coded openings on the straps. Baby is safe secure and mom/dad has 2 free hands!

You really will not be sorry you splurged on this!

(More customer reviews)This is a really great item for my newborn who fusses - if she won't nod off(or gets the hiccups), I carry her around in it and she ALWAYS falls asleep.The only caution is that I ordered a larger size thinking it would be more comfortable for me, however, the sling hangs too low and bounces around alot rather than being more snug fitting like the photo.Definitely don't upgrade a size!Even so, it still works well for me but will take a toll on your back after a while.We also have the Baby Bjorn which is great as well for my husband, I recommend having both options for different reasons (flexibility, different features).

This sling allows me to put my son on my hip and go for quick trips in and out of a store. I hate always pulling out a stroller. It is also great for doing chores on those days he doesn't want to be put down. I also have a baby bijorn but this product is so much easier to get the baby in and out of. I would recommend this product for any mom with similar needs.

(More customer reviews)Please beware that the photo advertising this sling shows a baby positioned EXACTLY how the manufacturer tells you NOT to position him!

This sling is almost identical to the Infantino SlingRider, which was recalled several months ago after 3 babies died in them. The babies were positioned like in the photo: curled into a C, with chin drooping toward the chest. This can close a baby's airway, and has been shown to lower blood oxygenation levels, and ultimately, can be fatal.

This sling may be adequate for an older baby who can sit upright in it, but PLEASE do not put your newborn in it as shown in the photo! If you read the instruction manual, it actually tells you not to do this, so it is incredibly irresponsible of the manufacturer to use this photo to advertise the product. Research safe baby wearing and buy a sling that keeps your baby pressed into your body, with his head supported to keep the airway open.

(More customer reviews)The sling was given to me as a gift and it is one of my all time favorite baby products.The sling folds up nicely and stays in the diaper bag in case I need it.I have two older wild boys so when we are in public I put the baby in the sling so that my hands are free.I also put the baby in the sling when I do not want people to touch her when we are out, especially during cold/flu season.
There are multiple positions you can use with this sling.From the time she was born until about three months old she preferred the cradle hold. My baby is now eight months old and she uses the hip position while we are out shopping. I have been to fairs, airports, shopping centers and busy malls and my baby has been able to sleep or peek our from a safe place.
I thought the sling would be useful and she may be able to nurse while in the sling.We could not position ourselves correctly and remain discreet while in public.I am 5'9 and of average weight.I used the large sling.Oh! And I hijacked my husband's account to write this review.:0)

Balboa Baby Adjustable Sling by Dr. Sears - Flower Review

(More customer reviews)Ok, we now have 4 ways to tote our toddler on our bodies & this is my current favorite. I had wanted a sling from the start, but couldn't find one I liked. Other rings slings have this massive "tail" that drove me nuts. The Peanut Shell brand is beautiful, but expensive. Hotslings were too size specific (my husband I would have each needed our own). I went with the Moby & then the Bjorn Active while our son was tiny.
When I started carrying him on my hip, I revisited the sling idea & found this one at a local store. It is perfect! Adjustable, neat & comfy. The rails are padded so they don't cut into his legs. The "tail" is just a strip of fabric, not a whole, giant bed sheet. It has a sort of toggle on the end that tucks neatly into a strip of fabric to keep the tail from hanging down. There are 2 little pockets on the outside for keys or change (not too useful, but once in a while they come in handy). I love the fabric & the other 2 or 3 patterns are also very nice and maybe more gender neutral (for dads who care). We've used it constantly for 5 months & it has held up very well. I keep it in the car.
One caveat about slings in general: if you have a bad back or poor posture, think twice before carrying your baby in a sling. It does not distribute weight well. I use this one to free up my hands when I would ordinarily be carrying him on my hip anyway. If I wear him in it for long periods of time, I definitely feel "outta-whack." And my son is 19 pounds at 1 year (shrimpy).
That said, if I had found this sling first, I might not have bought another carrier.

I used a snugli front carrier until she was about six months old, then she got too heavy for it and the straps hurt me too much to use it anymore. This is so much more comfortable, once you get the hang of it, which really doesn't take long. Plus, there's no complicated straps to adjust, and it's easy to tighten/loosen it with the baby inside. I was ready to send it back after the first time I wore it, but I sent them an email and they gave me some pointers on how to adjust it comfortably, and now we use it everyday. Now, at ten months, I make the loop very small and put it under her arms so she can "walk" all by herself (much easier on your back since you don't have to bend over. The fabric is really beautiful and the quality is great(I've washed it twice).I get compliments whenever I wear it. Like I said, I wish I had this sling from the beginning beacause there are so many different ways to carry the baby in it, it really does grow with your child. I would really reccomend this to anyone expecting, it doesn't take much practice to wear it comfortably, but it does take some patience. Read the instructions on their website before you give up! It's worth it! P.S. I'm not particulary thin or short, but I still had to weave the padded part of the straps through the loop to make it snug enough, so this is plenty big for a larger-built person.
